Welcome! I am a Senior Researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, and a Researcher at Uppsala University. I earned my PhD in Political Science from Uppsala University in 2021 and my MA in International Relations and European Studies from Central European University in 2013.

Areas of Specialization: Comparative Politics; Political Economy; Comparative Public Policy

My research focuses on climate governance at international, national, and sub-national levels, with particular attention to domestic actors and institutions. Currently, I explore the determinants of climate change mitigation, the impact of climate hazards, and the political legitimacy of climate policies. My work has been published in World Development, Ecological Economics, Global Environmental Politics, npj Climate Action, and International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics, among other journals.

Currently, I am the Principal Investigator for the EU Commission-funded project Achieving High-Integrity Voluntary Climate Action, and a collaborator for the Wallenberg-funded project The effects of climate hazards on climate-resilient development. Additionally, I am involved in three projects on how the welfare state shapes citizen attitudes to costly climate measures: Climate Policy as a Social Question and Can social policy reduce the risk of polarization over climate change mitigation, both funded by Formas, and Do welfare systems shape public support for climate action? A cross-country experimental assessment, funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation.

I am a Fellow at both the Centre of Natural Hazards and Disaster Science and Earth System Governance.
